Manila Turo Turo: Reviews & Ratings
An online search for good Filipino food in the East Bay led me to this restaurant. A friend and I have eaten there several times. It’s a casual, cafeteria-style business with a small but cozy dining area. Irene was very welcoming and was happy to describe some of the dishes. Her customer service is exceptional! We enjoyed everything we ordered….the Longsilog with garlic rice, eggs & tomato, the Sinigang with pork, Kare-kare (loved the tender oxtail and tripe in peanut sauce), Pinakbet (like the way mom made it!), the Kaldareta, and calamansi juice. For dessert we had the fried Turon which was sweet and crispy. Their homestyle dishes are all fresh and delicious. We found a “happy place” for Filipino cuisine where we will go from now on. We highly recommend Manila Turo-Turo. You won’t be disappointed!
Excellent Filipino food and the staff is very friendly and helpful. They also offer great cathering services. I would definitely recommend this place.
It’s a hole in a wall. I ordered the adobo pusit, bansilog, sinigang broth and tocilog on two different occasions. None took away my breath. They were mediocre. The same as the surrounding Filipino restaurants. However, the owners’ friendliness and genuineness were apparent. Both sisters on two separate occasions, stopped at my table and engaged in a warm conversation, making me feel like a beloved family. I felt like I was being served at Nobu. I asked if they had coffee and she said she can make me one, which was not part of the menu, plus it was’t included on the final check. The black pipping hot coffee was in a paper dixie cup, but tasted better than coffee in Brazil. This personalized and attentive service ensured a positive experience, despite the food. Overall, this hole in the wall offers a welcoming atmosphere and friendly owners. The food might not be the primary draw, but it’s a great choice if seeking a comfortable spot with excellent customer interactaction.
I visited this place two years ago and have come back several times this week, and they have never disappointed me! Coming from San Diego, where there are many Filipino restaurants, I can honestly say this one is the best. The flavors of their dishes remind me of home, especially the dinuguan.
Never judge a book by its cover. You can call me one of the OG customers of Manila Turo-Turo since we all have been coming here since “Darling” was the owner. It has been through a few change of ownerships since then, but under the new regime, it feels and tastes just like the good old days, even better. If you haven’t been here before, the food is authentic homestyle Filipino food covering all the top favorite ulam (dishes) from sinigang na baboy, adobo, pancit, lechon kawali, binagoongan and the must have pusit. Service is genuine Pinoy hospitality with mom and daughter team upfront serving food with smiles. The dining area is small but similar to eating in Nanay’s (mom’s) kitchen. My favorite is tocino and longaniza. Both are always soft and tender with kapampangan style timpla in the longaniza. It’s been consistent so far in the way it is served along with their very delicious sinangag (garlic fried rice) which alone can be enjoyed by itself along with the perfectly cooked egg on top. There are many choices in the Bay Area if you are craving for good Filipino food, but if you’re in the vicinity of Manila Turo-Turo or even 500+ miles away, it’s worth the drive every time.
Restaurant was clean and staff was very nice! The food quality and portions was great and very tasty. Looking forward to trying more when we come back.
Best Filipino food ever!! It felt like home. Especially with the fun plant wall. I had the logsilog with garlic rice. The egg was so runny over the rice. IYKYK. I was in heaven. And btw I don’t eat meat …. only longganisa. Dad had batchoy and beef steak which was super delicious. Lutong bahay. Felt like home. The owners are really nice and you know they make the food with heart. They busted out with Karaoke. So you know this is authentic Filipino. I look forward to trying more and catering my next party. I 10/10 recommend.

Manila Turo Turo, tucked away in Fremont’s East Bay at 3900 Lake Arrowhead Ave, is a true gem for anyone craving authentic Filipino homestyle cooking. This unassuming, cafeteria-style eatery delivers warmth not just through its dishes but through its genuine hospitality. Walking in, you feel like you’ve entered a Nanay’s kitchen—small, cozy, and filled with inviting aromas that instantly comfort the soul.
The menu is a nostalgic journey through beloved Filipino classics. From the tangy and hearty sinigang na baboy to the rich, peanut-sauced kare-kare with tender oxtail and tripe, every plate tells a story crafted with care. The longsilog—a perfect combination of longganisa, garlic rice, eggs, and tomato—stands out as a simple yet deeply satisfying dish. The pinakbet here echoes the flavors of home-cooked meals, brimming with familiar, earthy vegetables that bring back fond memories of family dinners.
Noteworthy is the attention to detail in their rice and sides. The garlic fried rice, or sinangag, is particularly exceptional—fragrant, fluffy, and the ideal partner to any main dish. The tocino and longaniza showcase a tender, flavorful Kapampangan-style seasoning that lingers pleasantly on the palate long after the last bite.
What elevates Manila Turo Turo beyond just the food is the heartfelt customer experience. Irene and the mom-and-daughter team extend warm Filipino hospitality that immediately makes you feel like family. Their genuine smiles, personalized conversations, and even unexpected touches like a freshly brewed coffee add a personal charm rarely found in casual dining spots. It's service that comforts as much as the food does.
Desserts like the crispy fried turon cap off the meal with a sweet crunch, balancing the savory flavors that dominate the menu. The presence of unique beverages like calamansi juice further anchors the authenticity of this culinary haven.
While some may find the dishes familiar amid the Bay Area’s plethora of Filipino eateries, Manila Turo Turo’s soul lies in its heartfelt execution and intimate ambiance. It’s not just a place to eat—it’s a place to feel connected to Filipino heritage, whether you’re a long-time fan or new to these flavors. Whether you’re drawn by the comfort food or the genuine smiles that greet you, Manila Turo Turo earns its spot as a cherished “happy place” for Filipino cuisine in the East Bay.
